iCal Icon    Finding an event or To Do item

You can use the search field to quickly find events or To Do items. You can search for the name of the event or To Do item, or for the name of someone invited to an event.

1.

Make sure the calendars you want to search have a checkmark by them in the Calendars list.

2.

To limit your search, choose an item from the magnifying glass pop-up menu (in the search field) at the bottom of the iCal window.

For example, you can choose to search only the attendees in events, or notes in To Do items.

3.

Type a letter or word that appears in the item you're looking for.

As you type, events that contain the text you entered appear in the search results list, and all other events become transparent in the main calendar view.

4.

To go to the day of an event, click the event in the search results list.

You can also click a column heading to sort the found items.

To see all the events on your calendar again, delete the text from the search field (or click the "x" in the search field). To hide the search results list, delete the text in the search field or click the List button in the lower right-hand corner of the iCal window.

You can also search for iCal events when you're in the Finder using Mac OS X Spotlight. For more information on Spotlight, search Mac Help (choose Library > Mac Help).
