iCal Icon    Publishing your calendar on the Internet

You can put a copy of any of your calendars on the Internet (using your .Mac iDisk or a private WebDAV server) so family and colleagues can view them using iCal. If you publish your calendar on your .Mac iDisk, you and other people can also view your calendars using a web browser.

You need to have a .Mac account to publish to iDisk. To learn more about .Mac or to sign up, visit www.mac.com.

1.

In the Calendars list, click the name of the calendar you want to publish.

If you choose a calendar group, all the event and To Do information from the calendars in the group is merged and published in one calendar. You can also choose to publish individual calendars in the group.

2.

Choose Calendar > Publish.

If you choose a calendar group, all the calendars in the group are published.

3.

To change the name visitors see when the calendar is published, type a new name in the "Publish name" field. (This does not change the name in your Calendars list.)

4.

Choose whether you want to publish your calendar on .Mac or on a private web server. If you choose to publish "on a private server," enter the URL for the server, and the login name and password, if necessary.

For more information about how to publish to a private WebDAV server, see this article on the Apple Support website: http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n107564.

5.

If you want any of the changes that you make to your calendar to be automatically copied to the published version when you are connected to the Internet, select "Publish changes automatically." To turn off automatic updating, deselect the checkbox.

6.

To control what information is published, select or deselect the other checkboxes.

7.

Click Publish.

Broadcast icon

A broadcast icon appears beside the published calendar in the Calendars list (shown above).

If you publish your calendar on .Mac, you can send an email with the calendar URL to family and colleagues, and they can view it using any web browser. They can also use iCal to "subscribe" to your published calendar and have it appear in their iCal window. If you publish on a private server, other people can only view the calendar by subscribing to it using iCal.

For information about adding other people's published calendars to your Calendars list or updating calendars you've published or subscribed to, click "Tell me more."
