iCal Icon    Replying to an event invitation

If you are invited to an event you can reply to the invitation and add the event to your iCal calendar.

1.

Click the Notifications button (in the lower-left corner of the window) and select the event invitation that you want to reply to.

If you don't see any invitations, choose iCal > Preferences and click the Advanced button. Make sure the "Automatically retrieve invitations from Mail" checkbox is selected. When this checkbox is selected, any invitations you receive are automatically sent from Mail to your iCal Notifications box.

If the checkbox is not selected, any events that you're invited to would first appear in Mac OS X Mail. Open Mail (in your Applications folder) and double-click the event attachment to open iCal. Then click the Notifications button in the lower-left corner of the iCal window and select the invitation.

3.

Choose your reply to this invitation from the "my status" pop-up menu in the event's Info drawer.

4.

Choose the calendar where you want this event to appear from the "calendar" pop-up menu.

5.

If you want to have an alarm go off before the event occurs, choose an alarm for this event from the "alarm" pop-up menu.

6.

Click Reply.

To have iCal automatically put emailed event invitations into your iCal Notifications box, choose iCal > Preferences and click Advanced. Then select the "Automatically retrieve invitations from Mail" checkbox.

To change your status, choose a new status and click Reply again. You can also change the calendar or alarm for this event at any time by choosing new items from the pop-up menus in the Info drawer.
